Strategic Planning
HPREC works with schools, districts, and other
agencies to develop, implement, and evaluate strategic plans. The
goal of the strategic planning process is to help an organization
to:
|
1.
Develop a Vision Statement:
Values, Vision, and Process: What values
will guide our activities? What kind of community do we want to become? |
|
2.
Assess the Agency/Community:
Developing a profile of your
agency/community that describes its economy, environment, and people.
Describe the trends, the problems it faces, and the opportunities
ahead. By developing a profile we will be able to identify where needs
are not being met and identify people and resources needed to carry out
your plan. |
|
3.
Analyze Resources:
What resources does the agency/community
already have? What new resources are needed? |
|
4.
Rank Problems and
Opportunities:
How will you prioritize problems and
opportunities |
|
5.
Determine Long Term Goals:
What does your agency/community want to
achieve in the long term? |
|
6.
Select Strategies:
What
will your agency/community do to achieve a particular goal? |
|
7.
Publicize goals and
strategies for public comment:
Share all information with the public and open for comment. |
Strategic
Planning is a useful tool for any agency/community that wishes to change and
grow. A strategic plan will help you see where you want to go and help you make
decisions on how to get there. In this process collaborative teams create a
vision of what you want your agency/community to be like in the future;
identify things that are preventing change and opportunities to move forward;
and decide what actions are needed to make your vision a reality.
