High Plains REC is an unyielding advocate for high-quality and cost-effective Career and Technical Education (CTE). CTE experience and coursework are important components for all students as they select their post-secondary plans.

HPREC works closely with the New Mexico Department of Public Education College and Career Readiness Bureau on local and state-wide initiatives. We also develop programs and seek funding for HPREC-specific projects, customized to the needs of our member districts.

Why CTE?

  • CTE connects academics to real-world success. Valuable hands-on opportunities can unlock moments when students see connections between what they are learning and how they can apply those skills in the real world. These experiences, in turn, help students choose their college majors or career paths or help them earn industry certifications.
  • CTE increases the graduation rate of students with disabilities. Research shows that students with disabilities are more likely to graduate if they are enrolled in career and technical education programs.
