2024 has brought a change to HPREC’s annual SPED Law Conference!

This year, we are honored to facilitate a Special Education Law Conference for the New Mexico Public Education Department – Office of Special Education.

Dates: September 11 and 12, 2024

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Location: Embassy Suites by Hilton Albuquerque, 1000 Woodward Place NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102

*There is no cost to attend.

Overview

The presenters from The Bruman Group and Walsh Gallegos Kyle Robinson & Roalson, P.C. are legal experts who will provide participants with the latest in compliance guidance, best practices, and legal insight in areas that impact special education and IDEA-funded programs.

Target Audience

This conference is designed for school-based teams, including district and school administrators, special and general education teachers, and related service providers. Notably, a portion of this year’s conference will focus on Local Education Agency IDEA grant legal requirements, and, therefore, charter school and district business officials are also encouraged to attend.

Anyone interested in learning more about special education law is also invited to register and attend!

Topics

Participants will be provided with up-to-date information on special education’s hottest topics.

This year’s final agenda is forthcoming, but the conference will include:

  • information on Local Education Agency IDEA grant compliance and management presented by The Bruman Group from Washington D.C.
  • a wide range of legal topics related to special education program implementation presented by Walsh Gallegos Kyle Robinson & Roalson, P.C.

Lodging

Lodging is available, at no cost, to those participants traveling over 60 miles one way.

Lodging is limited and will be provided to eligible participants, as per the time of completed registration (first come, first serve). High Plains REC will notify you of your lodging status within three days of your registration.

Lodging will be at the venue (Embassy Suites) and at an overflow hotel (TBD).

*All other travel expenses are the responsibility of the participant/district (meals, mileage, etc.).
